Seven feet of reasons to come to a basketball game
Is a Laker basketball game in your sight this winter? You might be looking up!  Not only does Laker center Moussa Gueye tower over the competition at a remarkable seven feet tall, but he is a versatile player with a variety of talents on the court.
The soft spoken freshman from Dakar, Senegal in Africa says he is excited to start his American basketball career at Lake Land.
"I'm coming to America to go the NBA," he said. However, he understands he has to put in his due diligence first.
He plans to play two years at LLC, while also working on his English, as his native tongue is French. He then plans to transfer to Valparaiso University.
Moussa said his basketaball career before coming to Lake Land College was, "not too long, but not too short."  He further added that basketball is a popular sport in Darkar and playing the game has helped him retain a sense of familiarity while he is so far from home.
Dakar is a large metropolis, much different than the sprawling prairies surrounding campus. However, Moussa has already recognized LLC as one of the area's biggest assets.
"This is a nice place, with nice people," he said. "It is important to come into a place and be cool with the people."
Moussa is just one of many Laker players to watch.
"I am very excited about his year’s team because it is a group that has a great work ethic," said Coach Cedric Brown. "They are fun to coach and even more fun to watch."
There are many home games to catch Moussa before he makes it to the NBA. For a complete list of games, go to www.lakelandcollege.edu/athletics/.

Going to a game?  Laker Alums who upload photos or posts about the games to the Lake Land College Twitter, Myspace or Facebook will be entered into a drawing to win fabulous prizes!
