Circulation FAQs (library cards, check-out limits, PINs)

Do I have to be a student to use Lake Land's Library?

No. Although the library's collection and resources are intended to support college curricula, residents of the Land Land Community College district may use any library resources in the buidling and get library cards to check out items. However, you may not be able to access some of our library databases from off-campus unless you are affiliated with the college, and borrowing limits may be different for district residents. See borrowing limits below.

 

How do I get a library card?

Students, faculty, staff and Lake Land College district residents are eligible to check out materials by obtaining a library card from the Circulation Desk. (Borrowing limits may be different for district residents. See below. Just bring your student ID (for students) or another form of ID and proof of address for non-students. The card is free, but there is a $3 replacement fee for lost cards. Your library card is good for two years and may be renewed, so don't throw it away.

How many things can I check out at once?

• Students, faculty and staff at Lake Land can have up to 20 items checked out at one time. They can also have 2 videos/DVDs and 2 red case videos at one time.
• Residents of the Lake Land community college district can have up to 10 items checked out at one time.They can also have 2 videos/DVDs and 2 red case videos at one time.
• High School students of the Lake Land community college district can have up to >5 items checked out at one time. They may not check out videos or DVDs without special permission.

 

How do I renew books?

Materials may be renewed if no one is waiting for them. You can renew materials online by using the SHARE catalog (click on My Account) or by calling the Circulation Desk at 234-5367. To renew books, you must have your library card number and your Password (see below).

 

What is my Password?

In order to use the My Account feature in the SHARE catalog, you must enter your library card number (located on the back of your card) and your Password. Your Password consists of the last 4 digits of the telephone number that we have on record for you.
