Jestin Anderson enters his first season with the Lake Land men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach after having success as a player and coach at the Division II level with Quincy University.
Before joining the Laker family, Anderson served as the graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, Quincy University, while working on his master’s degree in Business Administration. In his two seasons as a graduate assistant, Anderson helped the hawks to a 36-23 overall record, including a National Tournament bid in his first year as a coach in 2006-2007. While at QU, Anderson was responsible for the development of the perimeter players, recruiting, and film exchange on top of his on the floor coaching duties.
Anderson attended Quincy University for his undergraduate degree as well, receiving a Bachelors of Science in Business Management. He was also a member of some the most successful Quincy University Basketball teams in recent history. During his junior year the Hawks posted an 18-11 record and a National Tournament bid. In his final season as a player the hawks improved to a 22-10 record while capturing the GLVC West Division title. The season was heightened by another National Tournament bid and a victory in which the Hawks upset the #3 seed before eventually being knocked out of the tournament in the second round. Anderson received the H.A.W.K Award, honoring athletes will & know-how at the conclusion of the season.
As an assistant at Lake Land College, Anderson will serve as academic coordinator and strength and conditioning coach. He will also assist in the recruitment of future student –athletes and perimeter player development.
Anderson is originally from DeKalb but now resides in Charleston, Illinois.
