Lake Land College to host Latino cultural celebration in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month
Posted on September 3, 2013
Lake Land College will host Celebración: Latino Dance and Culture Night on Friday, Sept. 27 from 7-10 p.m. in the Lake Land College Field House. This event, sponsored by the Diversity Education Task Force, is free and open to the public in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 – Oct. 15.
“Celebración is specifically intended to bring diverse communities of people together so that they may learn about the shared human experience through culture,” said Casey Reynolds, Spanish instructor at Lake Land College. “One of our goals with Celebración is to give the citizens of the Lake Land Community College district the opportunity to learn about and participate in Latino culture as part of the nationally established Hispanic Heritage Month.”
During the event, music will be provided by DJ Lex and refreshments will be provided by Don Sol. Beyond music, dancing and refreshments, the Diversity in Education Task Force anticipates having cultural displays and information about Lake Land College programs at the event.
