The Lake Land College Foundation will host its 35th Annual Photography Show sponsored by the General Electric Mattoon Lamp Plant and invites professional, amateur and student photographers to submit their work. Student entries are open to grades seven through 12.
This year’s theme is Street Photography and the deadline to submit an entry form is Friday, Feb. 14. All photos will remain on display through the month of March.
Photographers entering the show will compete for prizes in three categories. The categories are as follows:
• Category One: any subject, color print, film or digital;
• Category Two: any subject, black and white print, film or digital;
• Category Three: any photograph following the theme of Street Photography, color or black and white print, film or digital.
All three categories will consist of the three divisions – professional, amateur and student photography. There will be one winner for each division in each category. The awards for the professional and amateur divisions will each be a $100 cash prize and the awards for the student divisions will each be a $50 cash prize. There will also be one Best of Show prize for $150 in the professional and amateur divisions, combined, and one Best of Show prize for $100 for the student division.
Each photographer may enter two photos per category. Photographs entered may have been taken anytime, but not previously entered in a Lake Land College Foundation Photography Show. Photographs entered in the show must be delivered to the Virgil H. Judge Learning Resource Center (Library), at Lake Land College on Tuesday, Feb. 18 between 12 – 5 p.m. or Wednesday, Feb.19 between 3 – 6 p.m. Due to lack of space, photographs will only be accepted at the Virgil H. Judge Learning Resource Center on these dates.
A $10 fee for each entry is being charged for the professional and amateur divisions to help defray the cost of insuring photographs while they are on display at the college. Cost for student submissions is $5.
All entries will be displayed throughout the month of March at the Virgil H. Judge Learning Resource Center and a reception for all exhibiting photographers and the general public will be held on March 6 at 7 p.m. at that same location.
This year’s judge for the show is Jason Martini, a portrait photographer from Chicago. To learn more about Martini, visit: http://jasonmartini.photoshelter.com/
