Grants
Illinois Monetary Award Program
(MAP)
This program is awarded by the
Illinois
Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) and
is designed to pay tuition and certain fees at Lake Land
College.
Recipients of MAP must be residents of Illinois for the 12-month
period preceding September 1 of the award year. The MAP
grant
is generally not repayable and is based on financial need.
To be considered for a full year award, continuing students
must submit a completed Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA) before August 15. First time students must
submit
a completed FAFSA by September 30.
Illinois Incentive for Access (IIA)
Program. This program provides a one time grant of up to $500.
It is awarded to freshman students who have a $0 Expected
Family Contribution (EFC).This
program is sponsored by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission
(ISAC).
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
The Academic Competitiveness Grant is a need-based grant awarded to first and second year undergraduates who completed a rigorous high school curriculum and are Pell eligible.
Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is considered
to be the foundation of all Title IV financial assistance
programs. Pell is a need based grant which is generally not
repayable. The exact dollar award is determined by the student's
course load and the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number
as calculated by the federal government.
Federal Work-Study Program (FWS)
Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a
campus based program awarded through the College Financial
Aid Office in the form of part-time employment. Students
who participate in FWS generally work from 8 to 12 hours
per week.
Eligibility for FWS is based on financial need. Federal work-study
positions are limited in number. The wages are $6.50 per
hour.
Federal Supplemental Educational
Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
As a campus based award program, the
FSEOG is designed to provide federal grant money to students
with the greatest financial need. FSEOG awards are generally
not repayable and depend on the amount of funds available.
