Veterans' Benefits (G.I. Bill)
Lake Land College is approved for
educational G.I. Bill benefits. Servicemen and veterans should
contact the Financial Aid and Veteran Services Office for
information concerning the financial assistance and/or benefits
available to them through the United States Department of
Veterans' Affairs (VA).
Illinois Veterans' Grant (IVG)
A veteran who entered the armed forces
while a resident of Illinois, is usually entitled to an IVG
which pays resident tuition and certain fees at public colleges
and universities. Proof of service and residency requirement
is provided on the Report of Separation (DD214-4). Application
for the IVG may be obtained from your local Illinois Department
of Veterans' Affairs Office or the College Financial Aid and
Veteran Services Office.
Illinois National Guard Grant
(INGG)
Enlisted persons who have served one
year in the Illinois National Guard or Naval Militia may apply.
The INGG pays tuition and certain fees for eligible persons
attending public colleges and universities. Persons are eligible
for INGG only during the period they are enlisted in the guard
or militia.
Applications are secured from your local National Guard Armory
Commander or the College Financial Aid and Veteran Services
Office. Application for the INGG must be renewed annually.
Federal Selected Reserve Benefits
(Chapter 1606)
Lake Land College is approved for
Selected Reserve Benefits. Reservists and National Guardsmen
should contact the Financial Aid and Veteran Services Office
for information concerning the financial assistance and/or
benefits available to them through the United States Department
of Veterans' Affairs (VA).
War Orphans Assistance Program
(Chapter 35)
The War Orphans Assistance Act is
designed to provide benefits available not only to widows
and children of deceased veterans, but also wives and children
of veterans who have service related disabilities which are
considered to be total and permanent. Additional information
may be obtained from your local Illinois Department of Veterans'
Affairs (IDVA), or the Financial Aid & Veteran Services
Office at Lake Land College.
