| Associate in Applied Science Degree |
| |
The associate degree in Paramedical Services is a two-year intensive program that includes classroom, skills laboratory, hospital and field clinical experiences. The student is awarded an associate in applied science degree upon successful completion of the program and will be eligible to take the Illinois Department of Public Health EMT-Paramedic licensing examination or the National Registry of EMTs examination.
Completion of the associate degree in Paramedical Services does not guarantee
licensure. There are some conditions for which the Illinois Department
of Public Health may refuse to issue a license. Please consult with the
EMS Director to avoid license application hindrances.
This program is conducted in cooperation with Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center
and is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health, Division of EMS
and Highway Safety.
Program graduates are prepared for career opportunities in
the field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), including, but not limited to,
urban and rural ambulance services and/or fire departments; industrial settings;
clinical settings; and positions overseas. |

before admission to the Lake Land College Paramedical Services Program.
The following admission criteria and procedures are in accordance with
Illinois law. |

In those years when there are more qualified applicants than
spaces available in the program, admission is competitive and selective
by use of an objective formula approved by the EMS Department. This formula
includes the date on the intent form filed in the EMS office; EMS Assessment
test score; and academic achievement in prerequisite and co-requisite courses.
The most recent EMS Assessment test score is used. An EMS Assessment test
score more than three years preceding the April 1 deadline is not acceptable.
|
| |
| Note: State regulations require Lake Land College to first
accept qualified in-district applicants. If space permits, consideration
will then be given to out-of-district applicants. Applicants seeking admission
in the Paramedical Services Program, must have a completed file in the
EMS department by April 1. |
