Telecom Switch Technician (AAS.TELSW)
 
Associate in Applied Science Degree
 
The Switch Technician associate degree prepares the student for employment in the telecommunication industry working as a switch or head-end technician. If the student likes working inside in a climate-controlled atmosphere and likes working with cutting edge technology, the Switch Technician associate degree is a good career choice.

The student will be trained on a wide range of equipment currently used in the telecom industry such as central office switch programming and maintenance, T1 and DSL test equipment, signal strength and reflection test equipment, networks and routers. The student will also learn the skills necessary to install and maintain both residential and commercial phone equipment.

Students will gain experience with the equipment used in studio and on-location television productions and learn to work as a director, non-linear editor, audio engineer, floor director, and camera operator.
