This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge base and practical skills necessary for assisting with children and teachers in a public school setting. The certificate option is the first year of the two-year Associate in Applied science Degree in Paraprofessional Education. Students are encouraged to check with their local school district on specific college education requirements needed in the field of paraprofessional education.

Note: These are courses needed to fulfill the requirements of the Lake Land College Paraprofessional Education Associate Degree in Applied Science Degree and Paraprofessional Education Certificate which meet the recommended criteria of the Illinois State Board of Education. Students enrolled in Paraprofessional Education should contact their Regional Superintendent of Schools office to determine specific educational requirements for Paraprofessional “teacher aide” positions within their district.
