TRiO Talent Search

The Lake Land College TRIO TALENT SEARCH program provides free college, career, and financial aid activities, information and experiences to more than 600 middle school and high school students each year.

How does the TRiO Talent Search work?

Qualified students who show the potential for college enrollment are given the resources, skills and support to enroll in a program of postsecondary education (college, university, technical or vocational school) after high school graduation.TRiO Talent Search provides students in 6th to 12th grades with the following services and activities at designated schools and trips to various locations at no cost to the student:

  • Self-Improvement Workshops
  • Career Exploration and Guidance
  • Tutoring
  • Financial Aid/Scholarship Workshops
  • Academic Advisement
  • Technology Access and Literacy
  • College Campus Visits
  • Cultural Events
  • Preparation for College Entrance Exams (ACT)
  • Orientation Sessions and Workshops for Parents
  • Guidance on Secondary School Re-entry or GED
  • Completing College Admission Applications

Who can join TRiO TALENT SEARCH?

  • Students between the ages of 11 – 27 enrolled in targeted middle and high schools, students who have dropped out of school, or veterans
  • Students who qualify as low income and/or potential first generation college graduate (neither parent/guardian has earned a 4-year degree)
  • Students who show potential to enroll in college
  • Students who are U.S Citizens or permanent residents

How can I join TRiO TALENT SEARCH?

Please talk with your school guidance counselor or principal or complete the print the online Student Application. Please return the completed application to your principal, guidance counselor or the Educational Talent Search address on the application. You may contact Educational Talent Search program with any questions or concerns.
