CRT.PS The certificate in Paramedical Services is a two-year intensive program that includes classroom, skills laboratory, hospital, and field clinical experiences. Students are prepared for career opportunities in the field of emergency medical services to include urban and rural ambulance services and/or fire departments, industrial settings and clinical settings. This program in conducted in cooperation with Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center and is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Division of EMS and Highway Safety. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician's examination. Students must complete a file with the Lake Land College Emergency Services office with the following items: current AHA BLS CPR for Healthcare Provider certification card, current driver's license or Illinois state picture ID, immunizations as required by The Illinois Department of Public Health for Healthcare Providers, high school diploma or GED equivalent, physical exam, background check, and drug test. Consult the Emergency Services Programs Coordinator for specific requirements of this program.
Upon completion of the degree, there will be additional expenses including licensure application fee, written testing fee and psychomotor testing fees.
Program requirements may change over time. Specific degree/graduation requirements are determined by a degree audit.
This course provides the student with an understanding of his/her roles and responsibilities within the EMS system, including operations, patient assessment, and emergency medical care. Students successfully completing this course will be eligible to take the EMT-Basic licensing examination. (Repeatable 3 Times)
This course provides the beginning paramedic student with the knowledge to integrate the principles of kinetics, pathophysiology, and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for the trauma patient.
This course provides the paramedic student with the skills needed to manage a trauma patient including immobilization and splinting techniques, airway management, extrication techniques, intravenous therapy and bleeding control.
This course provides students with the knowledge to integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings, to formulate a field impression, and implement a treatment plan for patients across the lifespan including psychiatric issues and special populations. Observation time required.
This course provides a paramedic student with advanced skills needed to manage patients with special considerations experiencing life threatening conditions across the lifespan.
This course provides the paramedic student with the knowledge and skills to integrate pathophysiological principles of pharmacology and the assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a pharmacologic management plan. (Repeatable 3 Times)
This course provides the beginning paramedic student with the knowledge to integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for the medical patient. Observation time is required.
This course provides the beginning paramedic student with an understanding of the role and responsibilities within the EMS system including safety, medical-legal issues, EMS operations, and specialized scene responses. This course also provides students with an exam review for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
