Associate Degree in Nursing (AAS.ADN)

Applicants seeking admission into the ADN program must have a completed application file in the nursing department by February 1st, or the preceding business day if February 1st falls on a weekend.

A completed nursing file include:

  1. Completed ADN Intent Form (blue form for traditional students green for PN to ADN students)
  2. Complete the following pre-requisites courses: BIO 100 or equivalent, and CHM 101, 111, 120, 150 or equivalent OR 1 full year of high school chemistry. All chemistry courses must be taken within the last 5 years and be completed prior to the application deadline.
  3. Pre-RN Entrance Exam Score. This online exam is administered in September and December and must be taken prior to the application deadline. Applicants must be determined eligible to take this exam. For details regarding eligibility see ADN Admission Checklist.

The following admission criteria and procedures are in accordance with Illinois law: If there are more qualified applicants than spaces available in the program, admission is competitive and selective using an objective formula developed by the nursing department. Selection criteria includes: date on intent form, grades on pre-requisite and co-requisite courses, and Pre-RN test score. Details of admission selection process are available from the nursing director.

Essential Qualifications/Functional Abilities: Students applying to Lake Land College Nursing programs must be able to meet the technical requirements of the program and not pose a risk to the well-being of patients, other students, staff or themselves. Students applying to the program will need, at a minimum, to be capable of performing all Functional Abilities required of the nurse. The student will need to maintain and demonstrate these abilities through the duration of the program. A list of these abilities are available in the nursing department.
