Meet the Baseball Coaches


Head Coach: Julio Godinez

The 2019-2020 season is Coach Godinez’s 1st season as head coach at Lake Land College. Before joining the Lakers at the helm, Coach Godinez spent 6 seasons in assistant coaching roles at Eastern Illinois University, where he helped coach numerous All-American athletes, first team All-Ohio Valley Conference selections, and MLB Draft Pick players.

Godinez’s coaching career began in 2011 at Murray High School in Murray, Iowa where he served in assistant and pitching coach roles. From there, his experiences include assistant positions at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa and Lake Land College before moving on to Eastern Illinois University.

Godinez’s playing career began at Kishwaukee Community College in 2008. In 2010, he transferred to Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa where he was a two-time all-conference selection. He graduated from Graceland with a bachelor’s degree in 2012. Julio is a native of Chicago, Illinois.

Assistant Coach: Zach Stuart

Zach Stuart enters his 5th year as the assistant baseball coach/recruiting coordinator for the Lakers. Coach Stuart’s main focus is working with pitchers and catchers. Prior to his time at Lake Land College, Stuart spent 2 years at his alma mater, Graceland University, as the pitching coach/recruiting coordinator.

Stuart’s coaching experiences include assistant roles with the Interstate 35 High School baseball team, Iowa Falls-Alden High School baseball team, and Ellsworth Community College. Additionally, he has served in pitching coach roles in various collegiate summer leagues.

Stuart’s collegiate playing experience includes being a three year letter winner for Graceland University as a pitcher and catcher. He graduated from Graceland with a B.A. in Physical Education and Health in 2010 and a M.A. in Education in Instructional Leadership in 2012. Zach is a native of Neosho, Missouri.
