Meet the Men’s Basketball Coaches

Head Coach: Brandon Colvin

The 2019-20 season will be Coach Colvin’s 4th at the helm for the Lakers. Colvin has continued to improve the Laker men’s basketball program, knocking off multiple NJCAA Division I ranked teams and sending the majority of his players to the next level to continue their playing careers with NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, and NAIA programs. Coach Colvin’s leadership has produced players being named to the GRAC All-Region and GRAC All-Conference teams, and an NJCAA Academic Team.

Prior to becoming the Lakers’ head coach, Colvin was the head coach and athletic director at Dakota College. He has served in coaching roles at Southwestern Community College in Iowa, Western Texas College, North Dakota State College of Science, and Minnesota State as well as coaching international basketball in Qatar, Bahrain, and Denmark.

Coach Earp is also responsible for running the top junior college player camp in the United States, the Mullen’s Top 100 event that is held annually in Wichita, Kansas.

His recruitment of community college athletes is legendary and second-to-none in community college basketball, with countless numbers of players moving on to play Division I or II basketball after graduating from Lake Land College. His connections with the Lake Land College district and the Indianapolis and Louisville area have made him one of the most successful community college recruiters in the past decade.

Coach Earp is a Mattoon native and continues to live there.
