Meet the Volleyball Coaches

Head Coach: Ashli Wicker

Coach Ashli Wicker is entering her 7th year as head volleyball coach for Lake Land College. Coach Wicker has strong ties to Laker volleyball as she played as a setter from 2007-2009 and then served as an assistant coach from 2010-2013.

Coach Wicker led the 2018-2019 Lakers to 27-14 season, ending their season in the Semi-Finals of the NJCAA District K Tournament.  The 2018-2019 Lake Land Volleyball team was named NJCAA Academic Team with a team GPA of 3.44 including five NJCAA Academic All American recipients.  Three members of the 18-19 Laker Volleyball team were selected to the NJCAA Division One All-Region 24 team, along with four members on the GRAC All Conference Team.  A member of the 2018-2019 was named GRAC Freshman of the Year, as well as, another student-athlete was the recipient of the GRAC Sportsmanship award two years in a row.

Under Wicker’s direction, the Laker volleyball program has had numerous winning seasons with team accomplishments that include 3 NJCAA Academic Team awards and 9 NJCAA Academic All American Awards.  Her leadership has produced 6 All-Region 24 team members, 10 GRAC All-Conference 1st team and 2nd team members, 2 GRAC Freshman of the Year, and a two-time GRAC Sportsmanship award recipient. Coach Wicker was named the 2016 Great Rivers Athletic Conference Coach of the Year with the 2016 Great Rivers Athletic Conference Championship team.  Twenty-seven student-athletes have continued their education at a university, with eight of those continuing their volleyball careers at NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NAIA, and USCAA programs.

Coach Wicker graduated from Lake Land with a certificate in cosmetology in 2010. She continued her education at California University of Pennsylvania receiving her Bachelors of Science in Sports Management degree followed by a Masters of Science in Sports Administration degree from Eastern Illinois University. Originally from Indiana, Coach Wicker currently resides in Mattoon.
