Lake Land College hosts student-faculty softball game for scholarship
Watch the Lake Land College faculty get schooled at the upcoming Student-Faculty Softball Game on May 1 at 11 a.m. at the Lake Land College softball field. The two groups square off on the diamond each year for a good cause.
According to Lisa Shelton, director of new student admissions, the event is hosted by the Lake Land College Faculty Association and the Student Ambassadors in order to raise money for the Lake Land College Faculty Association Scholarship.
“This is the faculty and students’ way of helping those who need assistance attend college,” explained Shelton. “We work all year long to help raise funds which go to the Foundation, which grants the scholarship to deserving students.”
Last year, the Faculty Association raised $1,199, which on average, goes to three students.
Members of the Faculty Softball Team include: Dave Johnson, health and P.E. instructor; Tina Moore, director of Career Services; Greg Powers, radio/TV instructor; Cedric Brown, education instructor; Greg Capitosti, chemistry instructor; Bryan Burrell, academic counselor; Dirk Muffler, director of Pathways; Marc Dal Ponte, biology instructor; Eva Ritchey, speech communication instructor; Matt Landrus, English instructor; David Seiler, history instructor; Brenda Hunzinger, biology instructor; Brian Lynch, economics instructor; Bambi Jones, math instructor; and Ken Beno, retired radio/TV instructor.
The Student Softball Team includes: Connor Biehler, Shelbyville; Christian Lovell, Mattoon; Hilary Rhode, Hume; Nic Turner, Oakland; Emily Adams, Sullivan; Felicity Shoultz, Mattoon; Matt Huels, Altamont, Dan Ammann, Mattoon; Taylor Kerner, Mattoon, Walter Colvin, Mattoon; Blake Ford, Mattoon; Taylor Gamble, Mattoon; Zach Rincker, Strasburg; Monica Gardner, Beecher City; Lucas Thomas, Charleston; Mark Mammoser, Teutopolis; and Mike Rosenbaum, Arthur.
