West Building Open House (September 30, 2009): Less than nine years after Phase I of the building construction project was done—which initially provided about 23,000 square feet of space—LLC formally opened the doors of the West Building. It was only the second new permanent building on campus since enrollment nearly doubled from the mid 1970s, and it would become the permanent home for agriculture, cosmetology, and technology programs. Along with over a hundred citizens from the community, honored guests for the “wire” cutting included distinguished alumni, board members, and the State’s director of Rural Affairs, Carolyn Brown-Hodge, as well as State Representatives David Reis, Chapin Rose, and Roger Eddy. All told, 75% of the entire 51,000 square foot addition was paid by the State of Illinois, managed by the Capital Development Board.
