Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks):
Job Summary:
Responsible for teaching didactic and clinical courses within Allied Health Programs including but not limited to BNA, MAP, PN, ADN, and Phlebotomy.
In cooperation with other instructors concerned, prepare or revise guides for courses offered in their division and submit to the Division Chair or appropriate Administrators for review.
Teach classes assigned by the Division chair and approved by the Vice President following course outlines approved by the College.
In cooperation with other instructors concerned, prepare textbook recommendation and submit to the Division Chair for review.
Prepare requests for the purchase of new library books and materials as needed and submit these requests to the Division Chair for review.
Prepare for the annual budget requests for instructional equipment and materials including maps,books,audio-visual aids,and other supplies and submit these requests to the Division Chair for recommendation.
Report attendance and grades as prescribed by the Director of Admission Services.
Attend division meetings called by the Division chair and faculty meetings called by the administrative officers.
Prepare requests for the purchase of new library books and materials as needed and submit these requests to the Division Chair for review.
Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
Cooperate in the promotion of extra curricular activities by accepting reasonable assignments and encouraging student participation.
Serve on committees for the betterment of the College and Allied Health Programs as may be established by the administration and faculty.

Consider the general and special needs of the student. Assist students in meeting needs or solving problems when necessary,seek additional help from other college services.
Observe,support,and enforce the regulations,policies,and programs of the College and inform the President in writing of any problem that might have a detrimental effect on the College.
Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
Notify the appropriate Administrator well in advance of absences.
Advise students assigned by student services.
Assist in registration as needed.

Show an understanding of the community college philosophy including its unique ties to the workforce and its district.
Work as a member of a team.

Participate in development activities and maintain current perspectives in class presentations.
Develop, assess, and maintain data for course and program assessment.
Perform ongoing assessment to meet College and Program standards.
Participate in National Accreditation activies.

Specific Functional Job Requirements
Education:
Master's degree in Nursing Education or a related advanced practice nursing program preferred. Minimum of Bachelor degree with written plan to complete MSN within 2 year period of employment. Current Illinois license to practice professional nursing. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and two years experience in clinical nursing practice. Must meet instructor qualifications by accrediting body in the program being taught including Train the Trainer.
Experience:
Two years experience in clinical nursing practice.
Knowledge:
Curriculum development, assessment, community college philosophy and population.
Skills
Must be clinically competent in patient centered care.
Personal:
Versatility, positive attitude, enthusiasm
Physical:
Ability to perform general responsibilities in the classroom and clinical, ability to travel within the college district.
Machines and equipment used:
General and specialized machinery, equipment, software, or technology appropriate to teaching discipline and classroom presentations. Personal Computer (PC) and Microsoft Office Suite-based institution. Canvas is the learning management system (LMS) employed for teaching.
