Pathways Classroom Assistant

Position Title: Pathways Classroom Assistant
Department: Alternative Education
Supervisor: Director of Adult and Alternative Education

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks):

Job Summary: Provide assistance to Pathways instructor in the classroom for students who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out of traditional high school.
  • Provide individual instruction to students.
  • Assist instructor in class instruction.
  • Assist instructor in class preparation.
  • Monitor student behavior in the classroom.
  • Assist in student record keeping.
  • Assist with class field trips.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education: High School or equivalent degree required. Associate degree preferred.
Experience: Experience working with youth.
Knowledge: Understanding of adolescent issues, good writing and math skills.
Personal: Must be able to work well with others, flexible and understanding of student needs.
Physical: None.
Machines and equipment used: Computer, phone, fax, and copier.
