Lab Assistant for Medical Assistant Program

Position Title: Lab Assistant for Medical Assistant Program
Department: Allied Health
Supervisor: Division Chair Allied Health/Nursing Instructor

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks):

Job Summary: Responsible for assisting with skill instruction for the Medical Assistant degree program.
  • Keeps supply inventory and assists in ordering supplies.
  • Assist Program Director with skill check offs during lab time.
  • Prepare labs, supplies, equipment and assist instructors.
  • Provide care and maintenance of the simulation equipment, models, supplies and labs.
  • Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
  • Consider the general and special needs of the student. Assist students in meeting needs or solving problems when necessary, seek additional help from other college services.
  • Observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies, and programs of the College.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Notify the appropriate Administrator well in advance of absences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reinforce skill instruction for students who are enrolled in the Medical Assisting Program.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education: Associate's degree or obtained within 1 year of hire Current active licensure.
Experience: 1 year clinical experience. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience.
Knowledge: Must be clinically competent and have good oral and written communication skills.
Personal: Versatility, positive attitude, enthusiasm. Must have the ability to communicate well with students and faculty.
Physical: Ability to perform general responsibilities in the clinic.
Machines and equipment used: Equipment associated with the Medical Assisting Program.
