Engineering & Facilities Planning Technician

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks):
Job Summary:
This position is to assist physical plant with daily physical plant operations, construction management, architectural drafting, engineering computation, Mandated Reporting and other related technical activities.
Assist director in the planning and implementation of remodeling and new construction projects, including serving as liaison with architects, engineers and contractors to assure the quality and efficiency of projects.
Prepare, organize and store of drafting and engineering drawings.
Conduct research for the design and development of current and future projects.
Prepare, Maintain and submit mandated reports as directed. Recommend Develop and implement policies and procedures related to the facility usage and governmental reporting of the college.
Prepare, submit and maintain Bid documents.
Work with the college staff and administration to develop and define the strategies direction for college facilities
Assist in the Development and define solutions for incorporating energy saving and sustainable designs for existing and future facilities.
Conduct feasibility studies when needed to determine facility needs.
Maintain and update college's facilities master plan.
Assist in engineering campus construction projects.
Assist in engineering calculations and analysis.
Assist director with troubleshooting, diagnosing and directing equipment and campus renovation.
Assist in the development of presentations.

Specific Functional Job Requirements
Education:
Technical Certificate or AAS required; Bachelor's in Engineering or related field preferred.
Experience:
2 year construction experience
Knowledge:
Self-directed, analytical reasoning skills, Auto-CAD, Mapping software, Working knowledge of construction, MS office and various surveying equipment.
Skills
Personal:
Ability to handle stress and short deadlines, excellent communication skills, ability to work with a variety of customers and departments.
Physical:
Ability to work irregular hours.
Machines and equipment used:
Computer with Auto-CAD, Mapping Software Measuring equipment, Surveying equipment and other related equipment required of the position.
