Position Title: Director of Enterprise Applications

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks):

Job Summary: Responsible for College's administrative system and database, all affiliated third party systems, interfaces, and the lakelandcollege.edu website. Manage projects and allocate resources toward meeting the business requirements of the requesting department/division. Act as a business systems consultant for various business units/divisions within Lake Land College on behalf of the ISS organization. Direct employees in the area of application development and systems management as well as the ISS Help Desk where trouble ticket and technical issues are reported and resolved.
  • Lead team in translating department and division business needs into functional Information Systems business requirements.
  • Lead team in proactively consulting with departments to improve department performance by providing system and process recommendations, as well as to implement system and process improvements as identified by departments.
  • Lead team in mapping and implementing business and work flow processes into vendor and in-house developed software systems.
  • Lead, develop and manage projects utilizing project management tools and techniques, including the use of project plans, issue and risk analysis.
  • Review strategic, tactical, and operational plans of Lake Land College and identify, develop, and lead systems development activities from those plans.
  • Coordinate and lead virtual teams in support of development activities consisting of ISS, vendor, and other Lake Land College departments.
  • Develop high level impact analysis of development requests including budgetary and resource requirements.
  • Provide leadership and direction of all business analysis activities within ISS.
  • Maintain workload assignments and leveling.
  • Adhere to current processes and develop improved processes in a continuous process improvement cycle.
  • Complete performance reviews and manage employee relations.
  • Manage table maintenance, vendor updates, backup processes, application security and data elements as they relate to College wide data requirements.
  • Oversee and manage third party system interfaces that exchange data with Colleague and other high-level systems. i.e., Nebraska Bookstore., Canvas, Softdocs Etrieve imaging, Recruit.
  • Ensure data transmissions are performed for high impact College reporting. For example, ICCB, Student Clearinghouse.
  • Ensure standards and procedures are maintained by technical personnel effective and efficient applications development. This for all platforms where custom programs are created and maintained by Lake Land College ISS department.
  • Provide functional and technical guidance to programmers for all projects and trouble tickets.
  • Manage project costs associated with Professional Services delivered from Ellucian and other third party vendors.
  • Manage the tracking of payments for software maintenance associated with systems for which responsibility is assigned
  • Other duties as assigned.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Management, Computer Science, or related major required.
Experience: 7 years of programming; preferred supervisory experience. 3 years experience in a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst role preferred.
Knowledge: Experience with Ellucian Colleague Administration System and a variety of programming languages such as Envision, JCL, SQL. Functional capability with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project. Crystal Reports or another report writing tool. Database management tools and techniques.
Skills The ability to write and debug programs in the appropriate programming language, as well as the ability to operate data processing equipment. The ability to perform business and system analysis based on user defined requirements. The ability to perform the functions of Data Base Administrator. The ability to implement vendor supplied software in a uniform, managed way.
Personal: The ability to work with students, faculty, and others, communicate both written and verbally, the ability to work independently and within a team, self motivated.
Physical: The ability to perform all required position responsibilities which may require moving and setting up computer equipment, operating large printers, bursting and collating equipment, carrying boxes of forms and distributing reports.
