Coordinator of Laker Nest & Bookstore

Position Title: Coordinator of Laker Nest & Bookstore
Department: Bookstore
Supervisor: Manager of Bookstore and Textbook Rentals

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks):

Job Summary: Responsible for the operation of the bookstore, supervision of the associated staff and software management. Continuous review of the bookstore capabilities and aligning those capabilities with the strategic direction of the College.
  • Manage and utilize bookstore administrative software, registers and ID equipment.
  • Coordinate sales promotion activities and prepare merchandise displays and advertising.
  • Coordinate and execute GM (general merchandise) ordering, tracking, stocking, and pricing for the Laker Nest store to meet the needs of the college and the students and customers.
  • Manage the Laker Nest online store.
  • Manage the Laker Nest social media accounts, including sales promotions and student engagement, following college branding and marketing standards.
  • Process various reports within software, load updates, guides and manage support tickets.
  • Process month end financials and prepare reports for Accounting.
  • Supervise opening/closing the store, provide coverage and back up as needed.
  • Ensure merchandise displays are appealing, stocked and rotated.
  • Manage staff in processing transactions and troubleshoot issues at registers.
  • Supervise cap and gown ordering and distribution.
  • Perform inventory and work with auditors on inventory reporting.
  • Utilize various forms of media to interact with and inform customers to promote the store.
  • Manage student kit assembly and component ordering.
  • Maintain all calendars, bookstore website and telephone messages.
  • Coordinate with manager to meet all needs during rush times each semester.
  • Supervise Bookstore Assistant and provide back up when necessary.
  • Coordinate hiring, supervising and training of part time employees, including student rush employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree required, prefer business related field
Experience: Retail experience, merchandise promotion, data management, organization/planning and customer service
Knowledge: Business etiquette and general office procedures. Understanding and skill in working with Microsoft office software package with ability to learn bookstore administrative software

Detail-oriented, self-starter who enjoys relating to a diverse population of students, staff and public in a fast-paced work environment with multiple interruptions. Physical:
Machines and equipment used: Microsoft windows on personal computer platforms, Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook, Internet Browsers, multi-function printer, copier, scanner, fax machine. Multi-line phone system.
