Head Basketball Coach Lake Land College – 2nd Season. The 2017-18 season will be Coach Colvin’s second at Lake Land College. In his first season, the Lakers improved by six wins overall going 14-18 while also improving from 5-13 and last to 9-9 and fifth in GRAC play.

In his first season at the helm, Colvin oversaw a Laker program that earned an NJCAA Academic Team award with a 3.00 or better for the year, with two players earning individual honors. All nine sophomores were also able to move on to four year schools, with seven continuing their playing careers. Three student-athletes moved on to the NCAA Division I level, three the NCAA Division II level, and one the NAIA level.

Prior to becoming the Lakers Head Coach, Colvin was the Head Coach and Athletic Director at Dakota College at Bottineau in North Dakota. In his two seasons, the Lumberjacks went 40-27, winning a region title and finishing as the runner-up. Colvin was also named Region XIII Coach of the Year in 2015-16. During his time at Dakota College, he coached three All-Conference players, three All-Region players, and a Region Player of the Year. He also had the honor of coaching three NJCAA Academic All-Americans. The Lumberjacks 22 wins during the 15-16 season were the second most in school history.

Brandon’s coaching career began in 2005, at Southwestern Community College in Iowa. In his one season, he helped to recruit the athletes that would turn around a nine win team into back-to-back 17 win teams. After one season, he moved on to Western Texas College, where during the 2006-07 season he helped restart a program that had been gone for fourteen years. With 14 freshmen, the Westerners finished a respectable 13-16 in one of the toughest NJCAA Division I regions. His second season saw improvement as they went 17-12, knocking off two NJCAA Top 15 teams. The 2008-09 season found Colvin in North Dakota at North Dakota State College of Science. In two seasons as an assistant, they went 54-13, made an appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament, winning one game.

After two years in North Dakota, Colvin moved on to international basketball. Spending almost three and a half years away from the US, he spent time in Qatar, Bahrain, and Denmark. He was able to visit 14 countries in his career. Upon his return, he spent a season at Minnesota State before heading to Dakota College.

Colvin is originally from Waverly, IL. He earned a B.S. from Bradley University in Business Computer Systems, and a M.S. in Sports Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
