Introduction to Concealed Carry

The Introduction to Concealed Carry Course is designed to educate the student about firearms best suited for personal defense, how to carry the firearm safely, and how to deploy and use the firearm efficiently in the context of a Dynamic Critical Incident. The course will also cover the laws pertaining to the appropriate and lawful use of carrying a firearm in public. This course satisfies the 16-hour training requirement to be eligible to obtain an Illinois Concealed Carry permit. Students will need to apply online with the State of Illinois after course completion and must pay a $150 fee to the State of Illinois to obtain a 5-year license.

Participants must bring the following: eye & ear protection (prescription glasses are OK), concealable pistol, good quality sturdy holster (not required but recommended), 150 rounds of practice ammunition, driver's license/F.O.I.D. card, Veterans who want 8 hours training credit will need to bring a copy of Military ID or DD214 & will need to attend the 2nd day of training, notebook and note taking materials.

Self-Defense

This course is designed to educate you on the realities of what can happen to your body and mind in a fight against a violent attacker. It will develop your ability to recognize, deter and de-escalate violence and manage fear. Next it will train you on how to deal with violent situations should they become unavoidable. Regardless of age, size, strength and ability you will be build confidence while learning natural, simple and practical physical skills to defend yourself.

Armed Intruder/Active Shooter Preparedness and Response for Business & Industry

This training is delivered in partnership with local law enforcement and will assist participants in understanding the dynamics of critical incidents/workplace violence and how to take appropriate steps to create an individual safety response plan. Participants will learn: terminology and concepts of workplace violence, historical data concerning causes of workplace violence, dynamics of violent critical incidents, early detection of \"at risk\" employees, detection of suspicious \"stranger\" threats, how \"stranger\" and \"acquaintance\" violence can affect your workplace, how to create a \"location specific\" safety plan, active shooter response and how to maintain a relaxed and healthy but vigilant work environment through individual and team confidence. This course is a \"lunch and learn\" and lunch will be provided.
