OUTREACH ADVISOR/MENTOR TRIO DESTINATION COLLEGE. Full-time, grant funded position. Lake Land College. Responsible for providing services that ensure the project’s objectives are met at targeted high schools and middle schools throughout Lake Land College district. The outreach advisor/mentor will travel throughout the district to provide academic advisement, assistance with career exploration, assistance completing college, financial aid and scholarship applications, goal setting and planning for graduation and college entry. Master’s degree in counseling, family and consumer sciences, education, or social work or Bachelor’s degree with three years’ experience working with disadvantaged youth required. The person in this position will be responsible for teaching American Heart Association (AHA) based courses within Illinois correctional facilities to IDOC staff members as stipulated by the agreement in place with Lake Land College and the IDOC during the employment period. Employee will work autonomously with IDOC correctional facility training staff members to schedule and provide training. Employees are expected to complete all college-generated and/or AHA paperwork associated with the course being taught. $185.00 per class. Part-time. Lake Land College. Day and evening classes in the Mattoon area. The Commercial Driver Trainer will provide classroom and on-the-road training to individuals seeking to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). The Trainer will assume all duties required for preparing students to pass the Secretary of State license exam. Typical responsibilities will include classroom review of the Secretary of State CDL test manual, vehicle maneuvering techniques, over-the-road in-vehicle training, vehicle inspection, and routine vehicle maintenance. High School Degree/GED and 3 or more years of professional over-the-road driving experience required. CDL license required. $18.00/hr.
