  • Students may have their books shipped via the UPS shipping option found on the booklist site. Dates booklists become available are published on the Laker Calendar.
  • Course materials may be delivered to extension centers using the Print My Booklist system on the Laker Hub. Check the specific extension center’s hours for pick up.
    • Kluthe Center, Effingham – Deliveries are made each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, unless otherwise noted in the booklist system.
    • Eastern Region Center, Marshall – Refer to the booklist system for delivery dates.
    • Western Region Center, Pana – Refer to the booklist system for delivery dates.

NOTE: Financial Aid and voucher transactions must be made in person on campus by the student.

Returning Rental Materials

Lake Land College students also have multiple options for textbook returns.

  • Students, or someone they designate, can return their books in person to the Bookstore, the Kluthe Center in Effingham, the Eastern Region Center in Marshall or the Western Region Center in Pana. Check with each location for hours of operation.
    • Students may return their textbooks 24/7 using the outdoor drop box, located on campus. See map here.
  • Students may return textbooks via USPS, UPS, or FedEx provided they are post marked on due date or before.
  • To be certain all books are returned, click on the link, “Textbooks Rented”, in the Laker Hub to view all items rented for the current semester.

Cost of defacement or damage will be paid by the renter at the new retail price.

Returning Purchased Items

Purchased course materials (workbooks, access codes, etc.) can be returned by the 10th day of the semester (5th day Mod/Summer) with receipt and in original condition.

Merchandise and apparel must be returned within 30 days and must be accompanied with the receipt and original tags.

It is the student’s responsibility to maintain records that may be necessary for tax purposes.

Penalties for Unreturned Rentals

All rented items must be returned to the College by the day the semester closes, which is the day following the last day of finals. Beginning the following day, students will be charged new retail price of unreturned rentals. Textbook return deadlines are published on the Laker Calendar and are shown on the student booklist.

After the period mentioned above, any textbooks that have not been returned to the Bookstore will become the property of the students and the total cost for those books will be added to the student’s bill. At that time, books can no longer be returned to the Bookstore and any future financial aid, scholarships, or student loans may be held or applied against these charges.

Students with late textbook charges may be blocked from receiving transcripts and may not be able to register for any classes until the charges are paid.

Students who have been charged for unreturned textbooks and blocked but have a documentable reason for the unreturned books may petition to have the charges removed. Students should obtain documentation showing the reasoning with dates and follow these steps:

  • Complete the Late Textbook Waiver.
    • TIP: Be descriptive and provide the reason the deadline to return the textbooks was missed; include dates and documentation that will support the reason stated on the form. Please do not simply state the deadline was unknown or forgotten. Forms submitted without supporting documentation will not be reviewed.
  • Return the completed form to the Bookstore either in person or via email at bookstore@lakelandcollege.edu; don’t forget to include supporting documents.
  • The Bookstore will deliver the form to the Refund Review Committee.
  • The student will be contact by the Refund Review Committee with the decision of the board within five working days.
  • Approved complaint forms will be subject to the return of the textbooks, unless otherwise stated.

Student ID Cards

Students can stop by the Bookstore or Kluthe Center during normal business hours with a valid picture ID (i.e. driver’s license or passport) to get a Lake Land Student ID made.

There is a $10 fee for replacement IDs.
