The federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allocated funding directly to colleges and universities to provide emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. Eligible expenses are those included under a student’s cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child care.
Implementation guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of Education require that the emergency financial aid grants be awarded only to students who are eligible to participate in Title IV financial aid programs as determined through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). As such, Lake Land College will accept applications for emergency financial aid grants from students who are currently enrolled in the Spring 2020 semester who completed the FAFSA process. Those students may submit a request for emergency funds for up to $1,000 regardless of the amount of financial aid previously awarded, if any. A Request form is available in the Laker Hub and eligible students in need will be encouraged to apply.
CARES grants will be available again for students enrolling in Summer 2020 who have completed a 2019-2020 FAFSA. The application for summer grants will be available beginning June 1 so students enrolling in Summer still have time to get their 2019-2020 FAFSA completed and then apply for a CARES grant when the application becomes available.
If you have any questions, please email Financial Aid at financialaid@lakelandcollege.edu.
