Take a Lake Land College course at convenient times and locations for you through online learning. We know that travel and class times don’t always fit your schedule. You may have family, work and other obligations that make attending class in a traditional setting difficult. If that sounds like you, Lake Land College offers you opportunities to reach your educational goals through online learning.

Lake Land College offers around 200 courses online each semester. You can supplement your schedule with one or two online courses or take all, or most, of your classes online. We also offer several courses in a “hybrid” format, meaning you may have to come to campus a few times throughout the semester for face-to-face instruction, presentations or lab work. Visit lakelandcollege.edu/schedules to browse current online opportunities and search for courses by selecting “WEB” under Location.
In addition to a multitude of courses we offer online, Lake Land College offers five majors that can be earned completely online.
This degree allows you to complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree in business and either transfer to a university or enter the workforce upon graduation. Options to complete a bachelor’s degree online are available at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, the University of Illinois-Springfield and Indiana State University.
This degree prepares you for management positions in the health information field. You will study medical ethics, coding, information technology, statistics, management and medical reimbursement.
This certificate presents a comprehensive study of both diagnostic and procedural medical coding using nationally recognized ICD9CM, CPT and HCPCS coding. It prepares you for employment as a coding specialist in hospitals, clinics, surgery centers, long-term and home health care facilities.
This certificate prepares students for entry level positions in supervision and management. You can position yourself with the skills needed to advance in your career and/or update your management and supervisory skills.
This certificate prepares you for entry level positions in account management, sales, retailing and marketing. You can position yourself with the skills needed to advance in your career and/or update your marketing skills.
Lake Land College’s online courses are an affordable option. One three credit hour class taken online at Lake Land College will cost about one fourth of the cost of a class taken online at other colleges. One of the greatest benefits to you, regardless of where you reside, is that you pay the same tuition rate for online classes as an in-district resident. We have students from across the street and across the world enrolled in our online classes.
Our online majors and courses are accredited through the Higher Learning Commission and are recognized throughout the state for quality.
Lake Land College is a member of Illinois Community Colleges Online (ILCCO) and the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA). Students taking online classes at Lake Land College who are from out-of-state should attempt to resolve any issues or complaints with the College first. If after following the College’s process for addressing Student Concerns and Grievances, an issue cannot be resolved internally, students may file a complaint about Lake Land College with the Illinois Community College Board. If you are a student living out of the State of Illinois, you may also file your complaint with the state in which you reside (see Student Complaint Information by State).
Online classes can offer you flexibility to work toward your goals. Often, online courses are a great solution to balance family life, work and school. Online courses require self-discipline, good time management skills, and the ability to learn independently.
Students can complete the free OASIS assessment offered by Illinois Community Colleges Online (ILCCO). This assessment consists of a series of surveys that will help students determine if online learning is right for them.

Some online courses may require on-site proctoring for some exams in the proctoring lab located in the Tutoring and Testing Center. Additional proctoring sites are available at the Kluthe, Marshall, and Pana extension centers. Students can also make arrangements at alternative proctoring sites with qualified proctors. Lake Land College uses Canvas which is a cloud-based software program that can be accessed from a web browser. In Canvas, instructors will share course materials, syllabi, lessons, and discussions. Log in to Canvas using your IRIS ID and password. View the semester checklist for students to prepare for online courses.
