Central East Alcoholism and Drug Council
CEAD Council is a community based, not-for-profit corporation offering services to address chemical abuse, dependency and other therapeutic needs. Its mission is to provide a comprehensive array of services for behavioral health promotion and substance abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment through an ongoing process of needs assessment, remediation implementation and systematic evaluation of accomplishments. CEAD Council has treatment facilities in Mattoon, Charleston, Lerna and Shelbyville.

County health departments develop and administer programs and services that are aimed at maintaining a healthy community. The health department works with other community organizations to assure that needed services and programs are available.
