Meet Our Alumni
Advancing student success is a major goal of Lake Land College’s strategic plan. These profiles are of students and alumni who exemplify success. Their stories inspire us.
“Becoming a nurse at Lake Land is the same level of intensity and the same level of privilege when you’re done as you’re going to get anywhere else. I’ve been around to different schools, and the biggest difference here is the price. You don’t get what you pay for here. You get more.”
“Lake Land offers benefits that I don’t hear about other schools offering… they understand that this is different to me, and they try to make me feel at home.”
“You get a lot of hands-on experience in this program, and there’s always help when you need it. The small class sizes are nice too, because it lets the instructors focus on the students.”
“Lake Land’s program is really straightforward and has allowed me to jump right into my career interests. You can tell all the instructors have a lot of experience in the graphic design field.”
“The classes here are by no means any easier than what you’ll find at a four-year school, but I do think community college makes it easier to do well in them. It’s easy to ask questions and really learn the material when you’re in smaller classes and you know your teachers on a personal level. College can be intimidating, especially if you don’t know what you want to do. Lake Land was a perfect start for me.”
“Lake Land has continuously exceeded my expectations for what I thought they would have to offer. Getting started everyone was super helpful in making things seamless and easier. It’s really neat to learn from the instructors here, just knowing that they’ve got decades of experience between them. When I need that expertise and insight, I know I can ask them and they’ll have the real-world knowledge to share with me.”
“The instructors are fantastic and they are constantly helping me build and improve my skills.”
“Graduating from Lake Land was like the start of a whole new life. I had written myself off as someone who’d be stuck in a factory and now I was walking straight into a job I knew I’d love.”
“I would describe Lake Land as a tightknit family. You know everybody here, and you get to have one-on-one relationships with your instructors. Transferring was the easiest process you could ever think of.”
“I don’t think I would have been able to experience a lot of the things that I did if I had gone somewhere else… I’d highly recommend Lake Land to anyone”
“It impressed a lot of employers that I already knew how to do that right out of college, and those skills were very useful in my career.”
“Hopefully people see that it doesn’t matter where you’re from. It doesn’t matter how small the school or how small the town. If you can play, you can play.”
“A huge part of construction is team building and teamwork. The BCT program and this Habitat build, in particular, helped me prepare for my career… it’s a good feeling when your schoolwork can have an impact on someone.” Read more.
“I was able to graduate from Lake Land with no debt, and if I hadn’t started at Lake Land, I’m not sure I would have been able to pull off those two extra years to get my master’s in architecture.”
“Going to college can open a lot of doors to help you understand yourself and the world around you… that’s what Lake Land College did for me… Getting involved in college life can also make a career feel a lot more attainable.”
