About
Hobbies and Interest
Outside of work, I love weightlifting, gardening and Nintendo games. My interest in weightlifting started prior to high school since I knew I was going to play football my freshman year. It has stuck with me since. I have always loved gardening (growing flowers and vegetables) as I watched my dad do it and I always helped out. Finally, I have been a big Nintendo fan my whole life (Wii sports anyone?). Growing up, my cousins and I used to always get together, and we would play something on a Nintedo console or handheld.
Courses Taught
Pre Algebra, Pathways to Math Literacy, General Education Mathematics, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Algebra With Trigonometry, Business Calculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2.
Faculty statement/Why do you like teaching at Lake Land College?
Lake Land College provides a very welcoming atmosphere to all students, and I like being a part of a community that welcomes all students and gives everyone a chance to work toward a degree. I also like being surrounded by collegues who love teaching and are passionate about it. It makes me strive to continuously keep improving. I hope to continue making a difference at Lake Land College and do whatever I can to help students acheive their educational goals.
Research interests, Specializations, and Background
I attended a community college myself for the first two years of college. After my first semester, I knew immediately what I wanted to do with my life and that was to be a community college math instructor. Throughout high school, I was always good at math, but I did not know what I could really do with math after high school career wise. When I attended community college I really liked the atmosphere and my instructors. My instructors did a fantastic job of teaching the material to me and were always welcoming when it came to getting help outside of class. I decided after my first semester of college that I wanted to do the same thing someday. I did not specialize in anything per say. I went to graduate school specifically to be able to teach at a community college. During graduate school, I focused on filling any gaps in my math knowledge and becoming a better teacher (I got to teach one college algebra course a semester in graduate school).
