Faculty statement/Why do you like teaching at Lake Land College?

As a former Lake Land student, I am continuing the legacy of instruction I received that led me to honing my studio skills alongside my research and creative problem-solving skills. To offer that to students in our district means that we can foster a broader arts understanding and arts community.

Research interests, Specializations, and Background

Primarily an oil painter, I often draw and work in collage. My work varies from abstraction to realism, but remains focused on painting and its relationship to rendering while remaining steadfastly flat.

Some of my favorite artists to look at and recommend are:
Richard Diebenkorn
Squeak Carnwath
Robert Rauschenberg
Mary Cassatt
Amy Sillman
Edward Hopper
The Group of Seven and Tom Thomson
Andy Goldsworthy...Richard Serra...Maya Lin...this list has to stop or I'll be typing all day...

Community Service

Guest speaker, demonstrator, and judge for area art shows.

Member of the Sullivan Area Arts council.

Annual exhibition at my studio in Sullivan, (each November) wherein 50% of all proceeds go to the Moultrie County Food Pantry.

Keep your eyes open for community drawing and painting courses.
