About

Hobbies and Interest

I’m an avid reader with a particular love for crime fiction from the 1950s—I enjoy the gritty storytelling and sharp dialogue of that era. I’m also passionate about backpacking and find real joy in the challenge and solitude of the trail. When I travel, I make it a point to seek out authentic local foods, believing that cuisine is one of the best ways to understand a culture. Whether I’m sipping a cup of drip coffee in a street-side café or brewing at home, I’m always on the hunt for the most flavorful coffee beans to elevate my daily cup.

Faculty statement/Why do you like teaching at Lake Land College?

I enjoy teaching at Lake Land College because of the strong sense of community, the commitment to student success, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. The students are motivated and diverse, and the college fosters a supportive environment where faculty are empowered to innovate and collaborate. It’s a place where education is personal and purpose-driven, and that makes teaching here incredibly rewarding.

Research interests, Specializations, and Background

I’m passionate about traveling—especially to the desert Southwest—and I’ve always been drawn to pop culture, film, and professional horse racing photography, which has been a unique and exciting part of my background. In fact, I professionally photographed the Kentucky Derby from 2010 to 2018. All of this has made it into the classroom with both assignments and lectures.

Community Service

Giving back to the community is important to me, and one of the ways I do that is by volunteering at a local elementary school. Whether it’s helping students with reading, assisting teachers, or simply being a positive presence, I value the opportunity to contribute to a nurturing and supportive educational environment.
