Building Construction Technology (AAS.BCT)

Building Construction Technology provides a versatile learning environment consisting of a blend of hands-on learning and classroom activities. The combination of hands-on learning and classroom activities provides a broad understanding of the topics covered, and teaches critical skills that encourage progression in the building construction industry. Graduates are qualified to be building construction technicians, construction manager assistants, construction estimators, computer drafters, carpenters, construction inspectors and building manufacturing representatives. Potential employers include building contractors, architectural/engineering firms, testing laboratories, construction management firms, and manufacturers of building assemblies and products. With additional experience graduates may fill the positions of construction manager or self-employed building contractor.

CORE	BCT-055	Basic Carpentry II BCT-055 Basic Carpentry II This course further develops the skills learned in BCT 054 and places more emphasis on finishing the interior and exterior of residential construction projects. Course Outline *	4.0
GEN	ENG-050	Writing for Industry ENG-050 Writing for Industry Students will learn strategies for writing essays, instruction manuals, proposals, reports and career documents as well as deliver oral presentations to prepare them for a profession in industry. GEN	ENG-119	Composition I Pathway ENG-119 Composition I Pathway Students will study the writing process by reading essays illustrating a variety of rhetorical strategies, analyzing texts and writing, revising and editing short essays. Course is for students who have assessed into developmental English, receiving supplemental instruction for course completion. Course Outline OR

GEN	HED-179	Advanced 1st Aid and CPR HED-179 Advanced 1st Aid and CPR Studies all phases of advanced first aid and safety. Also includes Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Students receive an Advanced First Aid card and a CPR card with the successful completion of the course. Course Outline OR
GEN	SOS-052	Workplace Communication/Safety SOS-052 Workplace Communication/Safety Provides an understanding of the human mechanism when associated with interpersonal relationship on the job. Emphasis placed on vocational motivation, communication and perception, along with Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid training to enhance safety and response skills in a workplace emergency.
