Renewable Energy Technician (CRT.RENEW)

This program prepares students for entry level positions into the field of renewable energy technicians and technical maintenance. Emphasis is placed on "green" technologies including electricity, physics, chemistry, wind, photovoltaics, solar thermal, bioenergy, energy efficiency, and smart grid technology. There is a critical skill shortage of trained workers knowledgeable with issues relating specifically to renewable energy and who can troubleshoot renewable energy systems.

Program requirements may change over time. Specific degree/graduation requirements are determined by a degree audit.

CORE	TEC-057	Introduction to Renewable Energy TEC-057 Introduction to Renewable Energy This course provides students with an introduction to forms of renewable energy as well as how it is produced and utilized. CORE	WND-040	Introduction to Wind Technology WND-040 Introduction to Wind Technology This course provides students with an understanding of basic wind technology concepts. GEN	APT-042	Applied Mathematics II APT-042 Applied Mathematics II Offers the student an in-depth study of algebra, geometry and trigonometry including factoring, solving linear systems, volumes, areas and right triangles. Course Outline	2.0
GEN	ENG-050	Writing for Industry ENG-050 Writing for Industry Students will learn strategies for writing essays, instruction manuals, proposals, reports and career documents as well as deliver oral presentations to prepare them for a profession in industry. Students will practice research strategies by using library resources and the internet. Course Outline OR
GEN	ENG-098	Communications I ENG-098 Communications I Students will learn the principles of communications by listening, speaking, and writing. Emphasis is placed on communication skills related to the demands of the student's career area. Course Outline OR
GEN	ENG-119	Composition I Pathway ENG-119 Composition I Pathway Students will study the writing process by reading essays illustrating a variety of rhetorical strategies, analyzing texts and writing, revising and editing short essays. Course is for students who have assessed into developmental English, receiving supplemental instruction for course completion. Course Outline OR
GEN	ENG-120	Composition I ENG-120 Composition I Students develop a writing process by reading and analyzing texts that illustrate various rhetorical strategies as well as writing, revising and editing short essays. Minimally, students must compose four formal, revised writing assignments, having one reach at least 1,250 words. Course Outline	3.0

CORE	EET-068	Photovoltaic Systems EET-068 Photovoltaic Systems This course is designed to provide a technical foundation for design, installation, and evaluation of residential and commercial photovoltaic systems. CORE	IND-062	Rigging and Hoisting IND-062 Rigging and Hoisting This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of hoisting and rigging equipment.
