Medical Terminology - students learn how to identify medical terms by analyzing their components. These courses emphasize defining medical prefixes, root words, suffixes, and abbreviations. The primary focus is on developing both oral and written skills in the language used to communicate within health care professions. (NOTE - Course will be Monday and Wednesday ONLY. A non-dual credit course on Soft Skills in the Medical Environment will be offered on Fridays.)

Medical Coding and Transcription - Medical Coding and Transcription courses introduce students to the International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification (ICD-10) and its system of hospital codes for Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) diagnoses and procedures. These courses provide opportunities for students to practice and develop skills in the use of transcription equipment and to gain familiarity with common formats of medical terminology and reports.
CDL Classroom M,F 8-9:15am
CDL 090 is designed for students interested in a career requiring a Commercial Driver's License. This course covers topics in practical living for career readiness and personal values and the impacts of behaviors. CDL 043 is designed for students interested in a career requiring a Commercial Driver's License. This course covers the required classroom training under the Entry Level Driver Training Rule (ELDT) and prepares students to take the Illinois Secretary of State CDL permit exam.
CIS-160 Practical Software Applications 10004A001 M,F 7:30-8:50am
Computer Concepts and Software Applications is an orientation-level course designed to develop awareness and understanding of application software and equipment used by employees to perform tasks in business, marketing and management. Students will apply problem-solving skills to hands-on, real-life situations using a variety of software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database management, presentation software, and desktop publishing. Students will explore topics related to computer concepts, operating systems, telecommunications and emerging technologies. The development of employability skills, as well as transition skills, will be included in the course as well as an understanding of the ethical considerations that arise in using information processing equipment and gaining access to available databases.

TEC 090 – Education to Careers This course provides students with orientation for transitioning from education to careers including interview techniques, resume writing, job search strategies, personal growth and finance.

CTE Course - Business Communications courses help students to develop an understanding and appreciation for effective communication in business situations and environments. Emphasis is placed on all phases of communication: speaking, listening, thinking, responding, reading, writing, communicating nonverbally, and utilizing technology for communication. Business communication functions, processes, and applications in the context of business may be practiced through problem-based projects and real-world application.

Occupational Safety courses provide students with instruction in safe operating procedures related to various trades. Course topics may include the importance of standard operation procedures, agencies and regulations related to occupational safety and hazard prevention, and the dangers of particular materials. Course topics and materials should be relevant to the relevant industries and careers within the program(s) offered.

Business Math - Business Mathematics courses provide students with mathematical competencies in business applications and intended for those studying business, finance, or other related business careers. Topics include mathematical competencies such as arithmetic, measurement, statistics, ratio and proportion, exponents, formulas, and equations that are applied to business problems and situations. Applications might include wages, hourly rates, payroll deductions, sales, margins, receipts, accounts payable and receivable, financial reports, discounts, interest, business analysis and decision making, and debt decisions and implications.
CIS-071 Introduction to Networking 10102A001 T,R 7:30-8:50am
Computer Networking I - Computer Networking I is designed to provide students with the skills needed to setup, configure, test, and troubleshoot a data network using various network operating systems such as Windows and Linux. Students will also learn how to setup and manage file systems and resources, and system utilities to efficiently run software applications on a network. Students will learn to use basic operating system commands, set up user accounts, and establish user security.
