CDL Class B to A Upgrade (CDL 020)

The CDL Class B to A Upgrade course will allow the current CDL Class B driver to upgrade their CDL license.  This course contains both the required classroom and behind the wheel components as required by the Entry Level Driver Training Rule.

Tuition & Fees

  • Tuition $3,542.00
  • DOT Physical & Drug Screen performed at an authorized location
  • CDL Permit Fee $50.00

  • Payments can be made by using credit card, cash, money order, personal check, grant voucher, or FACTS payment plan prior to the start of training.

Course Overview

  • Classroom: 80 hours covering CDL permit study, map reading, logging and trip planning, and DOT regulations
  • Yard and Road: 160 hours covering pre-trip inspections, backing movements, and control and safe driving of the vehicle on the road

At the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to test at the Secretary of State Facility for your Class A CDL.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid license for your state of residency
  • Must be over 21 years old for interstate commerce
  • Must be 18 years old for intrastate (in state only)
  • Able to read, write, and speak the English language sufficiently to interact with law enforcement personnel and comply with road signs and rules
  • Pass a DOT physical and drug screen

Additional Information

  • Students can be licensed in Illinois or Indiana depending on residency
  • Two locations are available (Mattoon and Marshall)
