Dental Hygiene Clinic

The Dental Hygiene Program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a career as a Registered Dental Hygienist. The program provides experience in a clinical setting on-site that is open to the public. The clinic offers students a wide variety of patient treatments and experiences. Skills that focus on patient education, prevention of oral diseases and dental hygiene treatment are emphasized. Please be prepared for extended appointment times.

Patients will also have the opportunity to purchase professional white strips for $45 and a professional spin brush for $25. Purchases must be made in cash and are non-refundable.

    • Monday 8 a.m.-noon, 1-5 p.m.
    • Wednesday 8 a.m.-noon, 1-5 p.m.

Payment Policy

  • Adult (18-64) – $20.00 for entire treatment, this includes multiple visits and radiographs. We will e-mail your radiographs to your dentist within 5 days.
  • Senior Citizen (65 and older) – $15.00 for entire treatment, this includes multiple visits and radiographs. We will e-mail your radiographs to your dentist within 5 days.
  • Child (17 and younger) – $15.00 for entire treatment, this includes multiple visits and radiographs. We will email your radiographs to your dentist within 5 days.

Cancellation Policy

  • Please call and leave a message 24 hours in advance to cancel. If a patient does not show up for three appointments, they are no longer allowed at our clinic that specific semester.  The patient can try again a different semester.

Childcare Policy

  • We do not offer childcare for patients while they get their teeth cleaned. For children 6 years and older, parent and child appointments can be scheduled at the same time. If the patient is 5 years or younger, their appointment will have to be scheduled for a different day.

Lake Land College dental hygiene students provide dental hygiene services only. It is the patient’s responsibility to see their dentist yearly for comprehensive diagnoses and dental care.

Douglas County Health Department is a public entity committed to its mission of protecting and promoting healthier lifestyles through prevention and education. Located in Tuscola, DCHD offers numerous programs and services in three main focus areas.

Dental
A full-service dental clinic offers everything from checkups and cleanings to sealants, root canals, crowns and dentures. Fees are on a sliding scale basis and Medicare is accepted.

Nursing
Nursing services include WIC, family case management, immunizations, breastfeeding and lactation consults, women’s health, and annual flu clinics.

Environmental
Environmental programs include water and septic system inspections, food sanitation courses, food permits, tanning salon inspections, and more.

Other efforts include car seat safety checks, summer meals program to combat food insecurity, COVID vaccination and testing, and more programs are added as needs arise and funding sources are identified.

The Edgar County Public Health Department and Dental Clinic’s mission is to prevent premature death and disease and to increase the quality of life among all residents by promoting the health and wellness of its’ citizens through intervention, public education, and by providing direct health services.
The Edgar County Dental Clinic (ECDC) is proud to partner with Lake Land College School of Dental Hygiene to provide a public health dental experience for dental hygiene students. ECDC provides the following services: dental examinations (school and office), cleanings, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, x-rays, fillings and crowns, extractions, dentures and partials, emergency procedures, silver diamine fluoride, and scaling and root-planing/full mouth debridement. The clinic provides dental services to uninsured and under insured patients under the clinical direction of Dr. Renee DuChane.
ECDC is also fortunate to have Dr. David Llewellyn providing much-needed extractions for patients who have teeth that cannot be saved. ECDC also operates with a Program Manager/Dental Hygienist, Clinic Coordinator/Dental Hygienist, Public Health Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants and Receptionist. The clinic follows strict infection prevention and control procedures as prescribed by the American Dental Association and the CDC and is equipped with specialized UV-C lights in each room and new high volume suction devices designed to reduce the amount of aerosols. ECDC remains committed to providing a safe and healthy dental experience, as well as a high standard of care for our patients.

Sarah Bush Lincoln Dental Services:

The SBL Dental Services is a collaborative community effort that provides dental care at no cost to families who qualify.

The program serves a nine-county service area including Coles, Clark, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Jasper, Moultrie and Shelby.

Organizations that have existing partnerships with SBL Dental Services include 66 local elementary and secondary schools, local health departments, the Regional Office of Education #11, Lake Land College and other vital community partners.

We have a fixed site clinic in Mattoon that offers comprehensive care by appointment throughout the year. Our portable and mobile dental clinics aim to remove transportation barriers. During the school year, we visit schools, and children are dismissed from class to receive services. During the summer we hold clinics in area communities.
