LAKER CONNECT PROGRAM: A new dual credit program designed to overcome barriers to higher education by offering a clear pathway to college credentials. Students can earn both high school and college credit while accessing valuable benefits that support their academic and career goals.
ACADEMIC PATHWAY: An academic guide to ensure that the dual credit courses you’re taking align with your degree or certificate program, helping you make intentional choices that support your academic goals and avoid financial aid issues later on.
LAKER CONNECT ACADEMIC COUNSELOR: The dedicated academic counselor for Laker Connect students. They work with your high school guidance counselor to assist you in selecting your dual credit course work, transfer and trade school planning, and much more.
CREDIT HOUR: A unit of measurement that indicates the amount of instructional and learning time is required to achieve the student learning outcomes of a credit-bearing course. Most courses rage from 1 to 4 credit hours with 3 being the most common.
TRANSFER COURSES: Courses that fulfill general education requirements and are flexible for undecided students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree. These courses are typically a part of the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) for universities and 4-year colleges. These are shown in the LLC course catalog as 100-level and above.
CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION COURSES (CTE): Courses that offer hands-on learning and practical skills that prepare you for the workforce in fields such as healthcare, automotive technology, and more. These can be taken to earn dual credit and can be applied toward a certificate or an associate in applied science degree. These courses are for those with a strong interest in a specific career path. These are listed in the course catalog below the 100-level.

Here, you will have access to your laker email, academic records, transcript requests, and your financial aid information. Your digital backpack!
CANVAS: Our learning management system, where college course material taught by Lake Land College instructors will be found. You will also have access to the Lake Land College calendar as well as your course calendar through this page. You will use the same login ID and password used for your Laker Hub.
