Describe what a Lake Land College education means to you and your future career goals.

A Lake Land College education means I will be able to continue my education and is a stepping stone into higher education after Lakeland at a university. My dream one day is to open a birthing center in my community in Arcola, IL. Getting an education at Lakeland would be a steppingstone in being able to achieve that dream. I know that Lakeland has an amazing nursing program and I cannot wait to learn so many new things and continue my career. After I complete my RN, I will be able to continue my education to get my midwifery. I have not decided which college would fit me best. Getting a scholarship would take such a huge weight off my shoulders so I can focus on my grades and education and not so much on working a ton of hours.

Describe what a Lake Land College education means to you and your future career goals.

Since switching majors to the teaching field, receiving a professional college education is more important to me than ever. My future career consists of being knowledgeable, and to do so, I must be on top of my grades and schoolwork. My major goal with attaining this degree is impacting the lives of future generations. Ever since I was younger, Lake Land College has been my number one choice of school. Not only is it closer to home than a university, but I can receive the same education without being in a ton of debt. When I switched majors, I figured that I would have a difficult time adjusting to advisors and classes, however, it has been quite the opposite. Connecting with my professors has been easy and they have always responded quickly. Whenever I have a question, they are more than willing to help and are oftentimes free multiple days a week. This has been exceptionally helpful with my grades and is a luxury most students at universities do not have. Receiving a Lake Land college education has been one of the best decisions I have made and the networking skills I have learned will help greatly in my future teaching career.

Describe what a Lake Land College education means to you and your future career goals.

My current financial situation is comfortable, however paying for college does cause difficulties. I am paying for college myself by working part time and saving money. This is difficult, because even though Lake Land College is affordable, it is still a large sum of money since I am only able to work part time. Scholarships help a tremendous amount in paying for college, as they can relieve some stress about paying for college. A scholarship would mean a lot to me, and help me with my goal of staying debt free throughout college.

Describe what a Lake Land College education means to you and your future career goals.

I am a first-generation college student in my family. My mom never had the chance to go to college, and that inspires me to graduate, not just for me but for her. She is my biggest role model and has always taught me about the importance of an education. I don’t want to waste the privilege and opportunities I have been given to achieve an education. Graduating from Lake Land College is my number one goal right now; achieving something that the rest of my family did not have the privilege to do would be an honor. My future career goal is to work in the clinical side of psychology. I would love to do more research and studies on mental health and disorders. As a person who comes from a good mental state, I don’t take it for granted and wish more people could be in my shoes. 1-4 people suffer from mental health issues, and this dilemma will only continue to spread throughout my lifetime. I always knew I wanted to help people, but I never knew how I could do it. Helping people is my passion, and I will strive to work in this field in one way or another. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Describe what a Lake Land College education means to you and your future career goals.

My name is Jaxon Manley. I am a senior at Cowden-Herrick High School. I like working with cars and also enjoy learning more about how to repair them. My experience with Lake Land College Dual Credit classes has taught me a lot about the automotive field. It has ignited my interest in working on cars as a career. I plan to attend Lake Land College in the fall to pursue an associate degree in Automotive Technology.

I am just beginning my journey and ready to jump into the automotive industry. My goal is to finish the automotive program and then find a job with a dealership in one of the surrounding communities. The ultimate goal would be to take my hands-on experience from Lake Land College and the dealership and open my own shop in my hometown. I have spent many weekends beside my dad working on our own cars and trucks. I enjoy helping people and being a role model to others. I would like to be an example for other boys and girls looking to pursue a degree in the automotive field. I can’t wait to wake up every day and go to work doing something I love.
