With support from the Lake Land College Foundation and its partnership with the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, Lake Land College is working to end food insecurity and hunger among our students and their families.
If you are a Lake Land College student, it is easy to obtain food through the Laker Food Pantry. Food is available for same-day pick-up at the pantry or for next-day delivery to another location on campus.
Who is eligible to receive food through the Laker Food Pantry?
Any current Lake Land College student who is in need is eligible to receive food by submitting the Shopping List. A student is asked to provide only basic information.
Will students be required to provide income verification?
No income verification is required. The following defines who the pantry is designed to serve:
Can a staff member request food for a student in need?
Yes. A staff member can help a student complete and submit the Shopping List and request that the food be delivered to their work area for the student to pick up, or the staff member can arrange to pick-up for the student.
What kind of food is available?
The Laker Food Pantry focuses on providing non-perishable canned and dry goods that can be stored without refrigeration. Occasionally, special items like baked goods or fresh bread or produce may be available. When we get these items, we will contact students who have expressed interest through text or email.
What other food pantries are available in the local area?
The Eastern Illinois Foodbank website link “Where to find food” provides helpful information regarding locations and hours of food pantries throughout an 18 county area in Eastern Illinois.
