The Vibe

The Vibe students are the faces and voices of Lake Land College. Vibe students are enthusiastic, positive role models and social media influencers. You have the exciting opportunity to have a positive impact on the Lake Land College community. By sharing your Lake Land experiences on your own social media platforms, serving as a model for photo and video shoots and attending events, you are in the unique position to inspire others. Participation includes attending monthly meetings, providing feedback to the Marketing & Public Relations (MPR) team and other opportunities to share your thoughts with Lake Land College!

ELIGIBILITY

  • Enrolled at Lake Land College full-time or part-time
  • Ability to attend Orientation
  • Have a semester GPA of 2.5 or above
  • Remain in good academic standing and disciplinary standing
  • Flexible schedule and ability to attend events during the day and occasional evenings and weekends (exemptions subject to MPR approval); monthly meetings

  • Willingness to share your passion about Lake Land College
  • Willingness to try new things
  • Willingness to stretch outside your comfort zone
  • Commitment to following the Student Code of Conduct, the College’s Social Media Guidelines and the The Vibe Moral Code.
  • Willingness to ask for help when needed

TERMS OF THE VIBE

  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Enrolled at Lake Land College full-time or part-time
  • Remain in good disciplinary standing
  • Remain in good academic standing
  • Flexible schedule and ability to attend events during the day and occasional evenings and weekends (exemptions subject to MPR approval); monthly meetings
  • Allow Lake Land College to use your photo/image/likeness for the purposes of promoting the college
  • Attend the mandatory Meet & Greet Orientation
  • Have at least one public social media account and allow Lake Land College to follow and repost any of your posts associated with The Vibe
  • Keep track of your activities
  • Attend monthly Vibe meetings
  • Review and adhere to the Lake Land College Social Media Guidelines
  • Review and adhere to The Vibe Moral Code
  • Review and adhere to FERPA Guidelines
  • Review and adhere to the College Student Code of Conduct. Violating Lake Land College policies and guidelines will be grounds for termination from The Vibe
  • Post a minimum of 1 time per month on own social media page and create minimum of 1 post per month for Lake Land Tik Tok/Instagram Reels 
  • Tag Lake Land College account in all social media posts and use designated hashtag: #lakelandcollegevibe
  • Join The Vibe GroupMe app to receive communications
  • Check Laker Mail and GroupMe posts regularly and respond promptly
  • Marketing & Public Relations has sole creative control over photos and videos chosen for all content generated in MPR
  • Be punctual – arrive at assigned times at least 10 minutes in advance
  • Provide as much notice as possible when unable to make a commitment
  • Chronic absences or missing commitments will be grounds for removal from The Vibe
  • Communicate with MPR staff members your successes and any concerns or issues you experience in a timely manner
  • Have a great time sharing your Laker experience and inspiring others!

THE VIBE MORAL CODE

The Vibe members are recognized as student leaders within the Lake Land College community and are expected to act accordingly at all times. While Marketing & Public Relations (MPR) does not want to infringe upon the lives of team members, The Vibe members are expected to make appropriate decisions, as their decisions may impact their abilities to be good role models. As a Vibe member, you will agree to follow the College’s social media guidelines, The Vibe Morality Code and FERPA and College Board of Trustee Policies. Demonstration of actions that could taint their roles as student leaders and role models may in termination from the group. If a member of the MPR team deems a social media post as inappropriate, that member will contact the student and request that the post be removed or the action be addressed. Failure to remove the post automatically revokes a student’s participation in The Vibe.

SCHOLARSHIP

The Vibe members who complete the expected activities throughout the semester will earn a scholarship ranging from $500-$750. Minimum expectations to earn the scholarship for each semester include:

  • Post on personal social media page at least one time per month
  • Create minimum of one post per month for Lake Land College Tik Tok/Instagram Reels 
  • Attend monthly Vibe meetings
  • Maintain records of participated activities via format approved by MPR (Ex. Sending screenshots, hashtag, etc…)

 

FALL 2024 TENTATIVE TIMELINE:

September 2 – Application Closes
September 9-13 – Casting Calls – in person interviews
September 20 – Selected Vibe members notified
Week of September 23 – Meet & Greet Orientation
