Faculty and Staff Honored at Employee Recognition Event

Lake Land College recently held its annual employee recognition event to honor staff and faculty for their outstanding service to students and the community.

During the event, Lake Land College President Josh Bullock recognized employees who will be retiring this year, those who have achieved years of service milestones, faculty award winners and peer-nominated Shine award nominees.

The following 2026 Lake Land College retirees were honored during the employee recognition banquet: Academic Counselor Bryan Burrell, 32 years of service; Physical Therapist Assistant Instructor/Director of Physical Therapist & Massage Therapy Programs Martha Mioux, 30 years of service; Print and Mail Services Supervisor Dave Earp, 30 years of service; Business Instructor/Program Coordinator Desktop Publishing/Graphic Design Marcy Satterwhite, 29 years of service; Automotive Technology Instructor Kevin Miller, 29 years of service; IDOT QMTP Instructor/Program Coordinator Lori Long, 29 years of service; and Ag Power Technology Instructor Woody Reinhart, 12 years of service.

Two employees were also recognized for reaching the 35-year milestone of service at Lake Land College: Adult Education Instructor Dianna Hammond and Director of Data Analytics Lisa Cole.

Mechanical/Electrical Technology Instructor/Program Coordinator Dion Buzzard, Earp and Mioux were recognized for 30 years of service.

Those honored for 25 years of service were Workforce Solutions Specialist April Byard, Biological Science Instructor Brenda Hunzinger, Health and Physical Education Instructor Dave Johnson and Financial Analyst Krista Pickering.

The employees honored for reaching the 15-year milestone were Art Instructor Ben Cohan, Nursing Instructor Maria Nohren, Division Chair Agriculture/Agriculture Instructor Ryan Orrick, Assistant Director of Physical Plant Operations Scott Rawlings, Spanish/English Instructor Casey Reynolds and Program Manager Nate Westendorf.

Allied Health Specialist Hilary Donley, Nursing Instructor Tarah Haskenherm, Adult Education Advisor Jani Merryman, and Director of Human Resources Dustha Wahls were recognized for 10 years of service.

Adjunct faculty members were also honored for reaching semester milestones. Sharon Brown was recognized for 70 semesters of instruction, Jerad Zimmerle was recognized for 60 semesters, Debra Denton and Holly Dust were both recognized for 40 semesters, John McDaniel was recognized for 30 semesters and Nancy Caldwell was recognized for 10 semesters.

Multiple faculty members also received awards during the event for outstanding service to the College. Librarian and Director of Library Services Sarah Hill presented the 2026 LLCFA Outstanding Service Faculty Award to Communication Studies Instructor Eva Ritchey. Meanwhile, Michael Beavers, Electronics Engineering Technology Instructor/Program Coordinator, was announced as the Lake Land College recipient of the 2026 ICCTA Outstanding Full-time Faculty Award.

President Bullock then announced the winners of the 2026 Shine Award, the most prestigious staff honor created to recognize employees who demonstrate Lake Land’s values with the highest degree of excellence. The 2026 Shine Award recipients were Christine Strohl, Dean for Workforce Solutions & Community Education, and Nelson.

All employees who were nominated for the Shine Award were recognized during the event, a group consisting of Physical Education Instructor Madison Dailey, Philosophy/English Instructor Tara Blaser, Burrell, Special Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Services Scott Rhine, Shumard-Shelton, Academic Counselor/Chair of Counseling & Student Conduct Jennifer Melton, English Instructor Matthew Landrus, Nursing Instructor Constance Rickey, Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Services Jennifer Hedges, Student Wellness Specialist Emily Reid, Instructional Design Coordinator Jessica Wohlschlaeger and Community & Professional Program Coordinator Shelly Martin.

Multiple teams were also recognized as Shine nominees, including the Student Success Renovations Transition Team of David Higgs, Janet Meadows, Kimberly Wellbaum, Michael Doty and Phillip Zike; the Lakers Work Team of Jamie Corda Hadjaoui, Jeanine Helmink, Stephanie Anderson, Timothy Stolz and Tina Moore; and the CBI/CBE Collaboration Team of Adam Carter, Beavers, Richard Hunt and Walter Robinson.

The Lake Land College Board of Trustees expressed congratulations and gratitude to all the employees honored at the event for their hard work and dedication in serving Lake Land students and communities.
