Lake Land College Hosts Career Day for Local High School Students

Published on October 6, 2026

On Tuesday, October 6, Lake Land College hosted its annual Career Day, welcoming more than 1,200 high school students to campus for a day of career exploration.

During the event, juniors and seniors from 37 local high schools had the chance to meet with industry representatives and explore career interests with immersive demonstrations and workshops. Participating students were able to choose from more than 170 scheduled sessions to attend to learn about careers in agriculture, business, engineering, cosmetology, criminal justice, automotive technology, healthcare, construction, information technology and more.

Students in attendance also had the opportunity to attend a Career & College Fair before or after their scheduled sessions. There, representatives from 31 colleges and universities across the country were available to talk with students individually about available programs, transfer options, scholarships and more. Students also had the chance to meet with representatives from 44 organizations, including local businesses as well as all branches of the military, to discover additional post-secondary pathways such as internships, apprenticeships and more.

Lake Land College Career Day is held every year on the first Tuesday of October. Businesses, organizations, colleges and universities interested in hosting a table or leading an information session at a future Career Day event can contact Peighton Hinote, Coordinator for Student Communication & Initiatives, at 217-234-5230 or phinote@lakelandcollege.edu.
