Embarras River Basin Agency

ERBA is a Community Action Agency organized to administer grants and other programming for the target population of low-income citizens of all ages. ERBA serves the following counties: Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Jasper, Lawrence, and Richland, and maintains ten staffed Outreach Offices in the nine counties it serves. Staff members at the local offices are trained in basic information and referral to assist with problems relative to social services. Information on programs offered by ERBA as well as other Social Service Agencies and Organizations are available to the individual in need of assistance; this serves to provide the individual with the best possible resource guide.

Pana Community Mission

Offers free clothing and household items to people in need. Donations are appreciated, but not required. Located at 133 South Locust Street, Pana.

Soyland Access to Independent Living

SAIL is a community-based, non-residential Center for Independent Living (CIL). Its purpose is to promote and practice independent living for all people with disabilities and strives to encourage and assist people with disabilities to gain effective control of their lives by participation in all aspects of society to their fullest extent possible, especially in performing routine daily activities. SAIL promotes personal dignity of people with disabilities and develops community awareness by providing training, direct services and information.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is a religious, charitable and social service agency serving millions of men, women and children around the world since 1865. The Salvation Army of Coles and Cumberland Counties houses several Salvation Army programs – the After School Drop in Center, Summer Feed Programs, Winter Assistance, Social Services, Food Pantry, Adult Enrichment, Sports/recreation, Character building, and more. These services are available to residents of Coles and Cumberland counties.

TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)

Department of Human Services:  The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program provides temporary financial assistance for pregnant women and families with one or more dependent children. TANF provides financial assistance to help pay for food, shelter, utilities, and expenses other than medical.  Can apply for TANF online at:  www.abe.illinois.gov  – Can download application at:  https://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=33698 and mail or return to office.  Can also apply in person at office:  1100 North Cheney Street, Taylorville.  Phone:  217-824-3389.
