Welcome Week
Welcome back to campus, Lakers! To celebrate, we will be hosting various games, giveaways, tours, and workshops at Welcome Week to help students feel confident going into the new semester. Aligning with book pickup, Welcome Week will run from Tuesday, August 18 – Friday, August 21 as well as Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25. This year’s theme will be centered around “2016.” We will celebrate the start of the semester with Pokémon Go, fidget spinners, Snapchat filters, and more!
At Welcome Week, students can opt to attend a technology workshop, “How to College”. Here, students will get the chance to learn about the various platforms they will use, like the HUB, Canvas, and Laker Mail. To register to attend “How to College”, students can use the following links:”

How to College: Technology Skills
Starting college comes with a lot of new tools, but you don’t have to figure them out alone.
Our How to College: Technology Workshops launch during Welcome Week (August 19–25, 2026) and are designed to help you feel confident using the technology you’ll rely on every day as a Laker. And this is just the beginning. Technology support will be available all semester long to help you stay on track.
What You’ll Learn
These hands-on workshops will walk you through essential platforms and tools, including:
- Navigating the Laker Hub
- Using Canvas for your classes
- Accessing and managing your Lakers Mail
- Printing your book list and accessing course materials
- Logging into and using your Laker Virtual Computer
