Get ready to kick off your semester with a full week of fun with our second annual Welcome Week! Welcome Week begins the week before classes start, offering a wide variety of fun and informational activities for you to check out at your leisure! With Welcome Week, you’ll learn about Lake Land College, meet new friends, discover helpful resources, familiarize yourself with campus and get ready for a great year!

Welcome Week is sure to be jam-packed with fun surprises and memorable moments. Here are just a few of the things you can look forward to this year:

Insights and Info

College is more than just a place to take classes, and Welcome Week is the perfect way to jump in and experience everything Lake Land College has to offer! Our campus is full of student resources, helpful services and can’t-miss opportunities that will help you create an unforgettable Laker experience.

At Welcome Week, you’ll have a chance to meet with staff and faculty to learn about all the resources available throughout campus. Tables will be set up throughout the Luther Student Center, where representatives from many Lake Land services will be available to answer questions and share info. You can also drop by a variety of Info Sessions in the Luther Student Center for an in-depth look at Financial Aid, TRIO Support Services, Safe with Me training and more!

Campus Tours

Welcome Week is also a perfect time to familiarize yourself with campus! Guided tours will be available throughout the week to help you learn the full campus layout and make sure you’re comfortable navigating from building to building. You’ll be able to locate your classes, find good study areas and discover what every building has to offer!

Greeters will also be available in every building on Monday, August 25 and Tuesday, August 26 to help you locate your classes and navigate campus after the semester begins.

Games and Giveaways Galore

Welcome Week offers a sneak peek into the fun side of campus life! You’ll have the chance to enjoy a plethora of exciting activities and even take home some exclusive Lake Land merch. You can decorate your student planner, have your photo taken in a green screen photobooth and even participate in a scavenger hunt game!

You’ll also want to be sure to check out as many info tables as you can. These tables offer a ton of valuable information about the College, and many are stocked with free Lake Land swag, such as pens, buttons, stickers and more. By visiting info tables and attending info sessions, you’ll also make progress toward completing a Welcome Week Bingo card and earning a special Lake Land prize!

 Student Success Center Grand Opening

The Student Success Center has a fresh new look, and you’re invited to check it out! On Monday, August 25 and Tuesday, August 26, we’re holding an open house in Webb Hall to celebrate the upgraded space and spotlight the many ways the Student Success Center is here for you!

Come by to see the new facilities, enjoy refreshments and discover how the Student Success Center can help you with free class tutoring, study tips, placement tests and more!

Welcome Day

We’ve saved the best for last! The Welcome Week grand finale comes Wednesday, August 27 with Welcome Day! Stop by the Field House any time between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free lunch and plenty of fun activities to enjoy! You’ll also get to meet with student clubs and organizations to discover the endless ways to get involved at Lake Land!

Taking classes at the Effingham Technology Center? No worries! We have a special Welcome Day event planned just for you! Be sure to stick around for free lunch, fun activities and Student Life info at the Effingham Technology Center on Thursday, August 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
