Placement Testing

Placement testing can be conducted in-person or via Examity, ACCUPLACER’s approved online remote live testing service. To utilize Examity, specific technology requirements must be met. It is not possible to test remotely on tablets, cell phones, or on computers that do not meet requirements.

To schedule a test or for more information, call 217-234-5301 or email tutoringandtesting@lakelandcollege.edu. Students who have a documented disability can make arrangements for test accommodations by contacting the Office of Student Accommodations at 217-234-5259. Students are encouraged to review the placement test study guide in order to prepare for the test.

Students may retest twice per academic year, at a minimal fee, but must wait a minimum of 48 hours between retests. The current fee is $5.00 per retest. The Testing Center only accepts cash or check. Please reach out to the center if there is a financial barrier to retesting for options.

Interpreting Test Scores

To determine placement in reading, English and math, match your score on the ACT/SAT or LLC placement test with the appropriate range of scores below. Counselors will review this information with you at your orientation/advising appointment. To discuss your placement scores or for additional information regarding degree requirements, please call Counseling Services at 217-234-5232.

If placement test scores require enrollment in a reading course, students must enroll in the required course for their first semester at Lake Land College.
